Fishing Charters Corporate Events february nearshore fishing

As we continue to roll into 2024, we had a great month of nearshore fishing in January with lots of sheepshead, tripletail, and black drum. As we push into February nearshore fishing, we expect many of those same fish to be caught. With February comes some better weather, allowing us to push our 26′ Skeeter out a little farther, making triple-tail fishing a lot more efficient by allowing us to cover a lot more ground and check more spots for tripletail.

With the influx of shrimp down the beach, the triple tail will continue to stay around, giving us a chance to catch some quality triple tail. The sheepshead will continue to spawn in and around the port, giving us some great bites with some nice & tasty fish to be caught. While fishing for sheepshead, we will catch many black drums in the mix and mangrove snapper, jacks, bluefish, and Spanish mackerel.

February Nearshore Fishing

February 1st also signals the beginning of the 2024 snook season. A personal favorite, allowing clients to enjoy an excellent fighting trophy fish that tastes great and can be eaten that day! Most of our snook fishing is done in the port and at the nearshore wrecks and reefs around the port. We usually fish live bait for them, whether croakers, pogies, or shrimp; we do occasionally use artificial bait when we fish for snook, but if you’re looking for more artificial fishing, you can check out our flats boat; we catch many of the same species on our flats boat but target them in a much more finesse approach.
