mahioffshore2024 March Offshore Fishing

Spring has finally shown up. It was an unusually windy and rainy winter. I hope warmer weather brings less wind and more sunshine. Water temperatures should start to rise this month. It was a chilly 65-70 degrees throughout the ocean last month. We should see temperatures rise into the low 70s this month. With rising temperatures, we will start to see some better fishing.

March Offshore Fishing Targets

Mahi should be arriving towards the end of the month, along with some sailfish pushing back up north.  Bottom fishing should remain pretty steady as long as we don’t get any large swells.  When we get seas around 8-12 feet, the bottom gets dirty from the waves.

Otherside fishing towards the end of the month might still be hit-and-miss. It just really depends on water temps and bird activity. We need the birds to show up so we can find them using the radar. The birds find the fish, and we find the birds. Usually, though, if we can’t find birds, the Mahi fishing is usually pretty good in March on the other side trip.
